The World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development was proclaimed by UNESCO at its 40th General Conference in 2019. It is celebrated worldwide on 4th March of each year since 2020 as a UNESCO international day of celebration of engineers and engineering.

The day offers an opportunity to highlight engineers and engineering’s achievements in our modern world and improve public understanding of how engineering and technology are central to modern life and for sustainable development.

EWB-Asia nETWORK

EWB-Asia network was initiated by some EWB organizations in Asia. The intention was to connect with like-minded professionals to start the conversation around sustainable development. EWB-Hong Kong becomes the first host for EWB-Asia Network in 2022.

GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP PROGRAM 2024 NOW OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS

EWB-HK launched the EWB Global Citizenship Programme (GCP) at early 2018 in response to the needs of young generations to tackle the challenges faced in the rapid-changing world. Everyone can be a Change-Maker to tackle the global challenges.

 

Hong Kong ProjectS

The Hong Kong Projects Committee (HKPC) aims to provide a service project platform in Hong Kong and to fill up the technical gaps in the local social services sector.  Pro Bono services is provided for:

1) Commune Housing and Community Development
2) NGO Facilities and Service Enhancement
3) Urban Sustainability



 

Overseas Projects

The Overseas Projects Committee (OPC) aims to provide a service project platform in overseas and to fill up the technical gaps in the social services sector and provide direct technical supports to beneficiaries.  Pro Bono services is provided for:

1) Commune Housing and Community Development
2) School & Children Center Facilities Enhancement
3) Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
4) Urban Sustainability
5) Youth Education

 

Humanitarian Engineering Training

The Humanitarian Engineering Training Committee (HETC) aims to accelerate betterment in life of disadvantaged communities and provide sustainable development, through people-oriented and strength-based training approaches. Engineering knowledge and Skills transfer to NGOs in HK and overseas are provided to empower their operation staff.

 

Young Members Group (YMG)

YMG aims to provide a platform for engaging young volunteers and students to get involved into EWB activities and grow to be future leader. Mentorship to EWB-HKUST student chapter and EWB-HK Change-Makers Challenges are organized annually.

The Engineers Without Borders International Global Forum: The Formation of Engineers, A Global Issue
24-25 August 2017, London, UK


This year’s Global Forum was all about the development of engineers and what we, as the Engineers Without Borders movement, are doing about it. There were 48 individuals from 18 different countries who ensured that we had a rich, varied and global discussion about how to ensure that engineers are global in their mind-set and reach. The conference was focused on the importance of working collaboratively and there were numerous opportunities for open discussion amongst individuals and groups.
